What data we collect

Our guiding principle is to collect only what we need. Here's what that means in practice:

Audio files and transcription results

When you upload audio files:

  • Audio files are transmitted via HTTPS to Replicate's Whisper model for processing
  • Audio files are immediately deleted from temporary storage after processing
  • We don't permanently save your transcription results unless you choose to export them
  • We absolutely do not use your audio content to train AI models
  • Your audio data is not stored on our servers

Usage data and error logs

To improve our service, we collect some basic information:

  • Anonymous usage statistics (like how many minutes of audio we've processed)
  • Technical information (browser type, device information)
  • Error reports and performance data
  • Partially anonymized IP addresses (for abuse prevention)
  • All this data is automatically deleted after 30 days

Website analytics

We use privacy-friendly analytics tools:

  • Plausible Analytics - No cookies, completely anonymous
  • Google Analytics - Can be disabled via browser settings
  • These just help us understand how people use our site

Anti-bot assessments

We use third-party CAPTCHA services across our applications to mitigate brute force attacks and spam protection.

When we access or share your information

To provide products or services you've requested

We use some third-party service providers to help run our applications and provide the services to you:

To investigate, prevent, or take action regarding abuse

Accessing a customer's account when investigating potential abuse is a measure of last resort. We want to protect the privacy and safety of both our customers and the people reporting issues to us, and we do our best to balance those responsibilities throughout the process.

When required under applicable law

WhisperWebUI is a cloud-based service with primary infrastructure located overseas. If U.S. law enforcement authorities have the necessary warrant, criminal subpoena, or court order requiring us to share data, we must comply. Likewise, we will only respond to requests from government authorities outside the U.S. if compelled through proper legal channels. It is our policy to notify affected users before we share data unless we are legally prohibited from doing so.

How we secure your data

What happens when you delete your content

If you delete any content, it will become immediately inaccessible. Accounting for database backups, this content will be fully purged from our systems within 90 days.

Location of site and data

Our products and other web properties are operated on cloud infrastructure. If you are located in the European Union, UK, or elsewhere outside the United States, please be aware that any information you provide to us will be transferred to and stored on cloud servers. By using our websites or services, you consent to this transfer.

Changes & questions

We may update this policy as needed to comply with relevant regulations and reflect any new practices. Whenever we make a significant change to our policies, we will refresh the date at the top of this page and take any other appropriate steps to notify users.

Have any questions, comments, or concerns about this privacy policy, your data, or your rights with respect to your information? Please get in touch by emailing us and we'll be happy to try to answer them!
